While the latest coronavirus numbers released by state health officials Monday brought with it no or minimal increases for most area cities or towns, one was hit hard since the weekend concluded. Newington was the only area city or town to have an increase of double-digits in the area, with an additional 19 residents who have tested positive for COVID-19.
The jump brought Newington’s total since testing began to 271, the third most in the area.
Southington had the next largest increase, with an additional six residents who have tested positive added to its total, which stands at 222.
Bristol is up five residents since Saturday, and now has 439 residents who have tested positive for coronavirus in all, the second-most in the area.
New Britain had just four additional residents who have tested positive for coronavirus. The city has the most positive cases in the area, with 659.
Plainville and Plymouth both had an increase of three residents who tested positive for the virus. Plainville now has 121 residents who have tested positive in all, while Plymouth has had 57.
Berlin did not record a new positive test Monday, and remains at 128 overall.
The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 dropped once again Monday, which represents 18 out of the past 19 days where a drop in patients has been reported. There were 30 less COVID-19 patients Monday, and the total number now stands at 1,212.
The Connecticut death toll went over 3,000 Monday, with an additional 41 deaths reported since the end of the weekend. There have been 921 Hartford County residents who have lost their lives due to COVID-19 associated deaths. Fairfield County has the most deaths, with 1,034, while New Haven County is third with 716.
There have been 33,765 state residents who have tested positive for coronavirus, with 132,508 being tested in all.
Stamford inched closer to reaching 3,000 total residents who have tested positive for the virus, with 2,937 reported Monday. Bridgeport remains the only other city or town with over 2,000 residents who have tested positive for the virus, with 2,468. New Haven (1,982), Norwalk (1,763), Hartford (1,529), Waterbury (1,523) and Danbury (1,507) are the only other cities or towns with over 1,000 residents who have tested positive in all. Canaan and Scotland still have zero residents who have tested positive for COVID-19.
