NEWINGTON – Town Councilor Michael Camillo has announced he is running for the House of Representatives’ 27th district seat this November.
Camillo is expected to be endorsed by the Newington Republicans at an event this coming Sunday.
Before he was elected to the town council this past November, Camillo served for many years on the Town Planning & Zoning Commission and as Vice Chairman of the Republican Town Committee.
He and his wife Kelley own and operate West Hill Automotive Truck & Trailer Services, which has been in business for 57 years. They have two children.
Camillo plans on using his years of experience as a business owner and engaged citizen to address inefficiencies in state government, which he considers one of the biggest barriers to economic growth in Connecticut.
“I have always been a pro-active person, and I have decided to take this big step up and run for State Representative,” Camillo said in a press release sent to media Monday. “This state needs a serious reality check. My family and my business must live within their means. Connecticut needs to do the same.”
